Because he wants to set the record for the biggest Santarun in the world. To achieve this, more than 5,000 Santas would have to cross the finish line on the Bundesplatz. The two routes are 2.7 km or 5.4 km long and pass the sights of Bern's old town: from the Bundesplatz to the Zytglogge (clock tower), down Kramgasse to Bern Zoo, BärenPark and back again. Participants can decide during the run whether they want to do one or two laps. But beware, even one run could be a challenge: Instead of water, mulled wine is available at the drinks stands along the route - if you take a mug at each stop, you will end up with five cups (don't worry, non-alcoholic punch is also available). As we are used to in Bern, the capital of conviviality, nobody has to hurry here either. There is no individual timekeeping. It is up to the participants to decide whether they want to take a leisurely stroll or get their pulse racing. Great prizes are not awarded for the best running time, but in the categories "Chlouse-Värsli", "Age" and "Most beautiful and original socks". The entry fee is 44 francs. Children pay 14 francs less. This includes the "Chlouse" costume, a cup of mulled wine or punch and a souvenir gift. An evening true to the motto "it's fun, it's Santarun"!
